Taking an Extended Leave from Massively
By Cameron Sorden | July 25, 2008
If you read my post yesterday, then you know that my new schedule doesn’t leave a whole lot of time for gaming or blogging right now. It leaves even less time for composing the kind of lengthy, planned, and highly structured articles that I was writing at Massively. After some thought, I decided that it would probably be best for me to just return to writing for myself here on Random Battle for the time being.
I should mention that the recent news about AOL Weblogs did factor into my decision, but it was more of a convenient point to step away than a reason for leaving. I’m going to refrain from commenting on the whole mess at this point because 1) not even those of us on the inside have the whole picture yet, 2) it’s not my place to talk about it, and 3) I may be contractually prohibited from doing so (and I’m too lazy to go dig it out and look). In any case, I don’t think it actually would have affected me much.
It’s not impossible that I’d return to my column on Massively at some point, but I think that this is a good move for me right now with everything else that’s going on. My sincere apologies go out to anyone who’s going to miss Player vs. Everything. Think of this as an extended sabbatical, cross your fingers, and maybe I’ll go back to it eventually. In the meantime, you can get the informal version of my zany, game-loving psyche right here where it’s always been: Random Battle, baby.
