Getting Naked in the New World

    By Cameron Sorden | November 1, 2007

Juvenile prank? Horny programmers? Hoax? Whatever it is, it’s interesting. Imagine the surprise of the Sword of the New World: Granado Espada players on October 20th when the screen went dark, and when it returned, their clothes were missing.

Naked New World (NSFW)The bugs are found at night of 20th, Oct. Some players said, about at 1:00 of the day, the screen suddenly became dark and return loading page during they playing, when they restarted and entered the game, they actually found they were naked!! All weapons and other items are still saved, except clothes.

According to the reports of korean websites, IMC Games, the developer of Granado Espada was currently full investigation into the bugs, however, few results were released yet.

What I find really interesting is that if you look closely at the censored but still not quite safe-for-work screenshots, you can clearly see that the models are quite fully animated and rendered under their clothing. Isn’t that kind of odd? Usually when character models are designed for a game the lowest level of nakedness evident on the models is their underwear, presumably to avoid issues exactly like this.

Now, I’m pretty sure that stripping off your clothing in Sword of the New World doesn’t reduce you to this level of nakedness, normally. In fact, I don’t think you can remove your clothing at all from what I remember of playing the game. So why on earth would they have anatomically correct and fully rendered nude models under that clothing?

I’m guessing it’s a hoax, personally. Models just don’t suddenly get nekkid out of nowhere, right? Right?

If the models are completely rendered beneath their clothes, I can think of only three possible explanations:

      1) The designers licensed a modeling program or used human models from other applications.
      2) The anatomy under the clothes affects how the clothes appear when worn.
      3) The devs directly designed these characters and went a little overboard for their own amusement.

      I doubt the 2nd, so I’m betting 1 or 3.

Actually a friend showed me it, its a special glitch in the game when you type in a message in the system menu, normally your not supposed to do it ever but we did it on Sword of the New World for the hell of it and it was fun XD people were all like “WTF your naked?” and so. Until a GM came in and yelled at us and told us if we did it again we would be banned….but still fun doing it where no one can see us.
